Two Way Journal is a small, private family app run by Brandon Gadoci (Gadoci Consulting). Each journal is shared between two people who write to each other during the week. Access is by invitation only. There are no ads, no trackers, and nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing.

What is stored

  • Your Google basics. Your name, email address, and profile picture, which Google shares when you sign in. They identify your account and show who you are to the people you journal with.
  • What you write. Your journal entries and responses, and when they were read.
  • Your settings. Your theme and which emails you want.
  • Connector tokens. If you connect Claude or ChatGPT, the app stores the sign-in tokens that let that connection act as you. You can revoke them any time in Settings.

That is the whole list. No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no location, and nothing else from your Google account.

Who can see your entries

Only the two people in a journal. An entry you write stays visible only to you until the journal’s weekly delivery time; after that your partner can see it too. Admins of this app can manage who has access and see which journals exist, how many entries they hold, and when they were written, but admins cannot read entries or responses. Nobody else can see them.

Claude and ChatGPT

If you choose to connect Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI), whatever you ask those apps to read or write in your journal passes through them, and their own privacy policies apply to what you share there. The connection only works after you sign in with Google and approve it, and it can only reach the journals you’re in.

Email

The app can email you when a week’s entries are delivered and when someone responds. Each kind can be turned off in Settings. These emails are sent through SendGrid and only go to the address you sign in with.

If you haven’t written in a while, it can also send a gentle reminder to write (every 2 days by default, at 6 PM). Reminders only look at when you last wrote, never include anything anyone wrote, and can be changed or turned off in Settings or by asking Claude or ChatGPT.

Where it lives

Data is stored in a MongoDB Atlas database and the app is hosted on Vercel, both in the United States. Vercel necessarily handles ordinary web request data such as IP addresses. Google is used only for sign-in; this app has no access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or anything else.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell or rent your data.
  • We don’t show ads.
  • We don’t use your entries to train AI models.

Cookies

One session cookie keeps you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Keeping and deleting

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can ask for your account and everything you’ve written to be deleted at any time by emailing bg@gadociconsulting.com. Because each journal is shared, deleting a whole journal removes it for both people.
